The Department of Computer Engineering proudly recognizes the active involvement of CpE faculty member Engr. Dexter James L. Cuaresma and CpE alumnus Engr. Dylan Josh Lopez in Project STArQE (Space Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Quantum Algorithms for Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy Optimization), an innovative research initiative that integrates emerging technologies to develop smarter, more sustainable, and energy-efficient infrastructure solutions.
Project STArQE combines space technology, including satellite and geospatial data, artificial intelligence for intelligent data analysis and prediction, and quantum algorithms for solving complex optimization problems. These technologies support evidence-based decisions on the strategic placement of electric vehicle charging stations and renewable energy infrastructure, contributing to smarter and more resilient cities.
On October 20, 2026, the project achieved a significant milestone as Adamson University formally entered into a partnership with the City Government of Pasig through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) by Pasig City Mayor Hon. Vico Sotto and Adamson University President Fr. Daniel Franklin E. Pilario, C.M.
The partnership initially focuses on applying these advanced technologies to optimize Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) infrastructure in Pasig City, with opportunities for future collaboration in intelligent transportation systems, digital twins, urban climate monitoring, and other smart city applications.
Of particular pride to the Department of Computer Engineering is the participation of Engr. Dexter James L. Cuaresma, who joined the university delegation during the MOA signing, in the project's Artificial Intelligence (AI) component which focuses on intelligent data analysis, predictive modeling, and AI-driven decision, and Engr. Dylan Josh Lopez, a CpE alumnus who contributes to the project as a Senior Science Researcher and collaborator of the Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP). Their involvement exemplifies the valuable contributions of CpE faculty and alumni to interdisciplinary research, emerging technologies, and meaningful community development.
Led by Dr. Mark Angelo C. Purio, Project STArQE is implemented by Adamson University in collaboration with Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand, and the Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines, with funding support from DOST-PCIEERD.
The Department of Computer Engineering congratulates the entire Project STArQE team, with special recognition to Engr. Cuaresma and Engr. Lopez, whose involvement reflects the department's continuing commitment to research excellence, innovation, and technological advancement.
