| SACE Department Extends Prayers to Mindanao
The SACE Department extends its deepest prayers and solidarity to the people of Mindanao following the powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck offshore Sarangani on the morning of June 8, 2026. The earthquake was strongly felt across several provinces and cities in Mindanao, with General Santos City experiencing destructive ground shaking and numerous aftershocks report in the hours that followed.
According to reports from PHIVOLCS and national news agencies, the earthquake triggered tsunami warnings, caused damage to buildings and infrastructure, and resulted in casualties and injuries in affected communities. In times of uncertainty, we are reminded of the strength of community, resilience, and compassion. As members of the academic community, we stand united with our fellow Filipinos in Mindanao and recognize the efforts of first responders, volunteers, and organizations working tirelessly to ensure the safety and recovery of affected areas.
The SACE Department calls on everyone to remain vigilant, stay informed through official advisories, and keep the people of Mindanao in our thoughts and prayers.
