A different perspective on our 2025 Commencement celebrations

This week, Neumann University celebrated the two-year anniversary of the N.I.T.E. (Neumann Investigative Technology Excellence) Center — our state-of-the-art digital forensics lab that is giving students hands-on experience while making a real impact in the community.

A recent feature by the Delaware County Daily Times highlights how, led by Det. Joe Walsh of the Aston Township Police Department, Neumann students are working to support active investigations and help combat crime through cutting-edge digital forensic technology.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office, Tanner Rouse praised the program, calling the work happening at the N.I.T.E. Center “cutting edge.”

“What you guys are doing is helping solve crimes in real time, but it is giving you the skills from here to build upon to be the crime-solving entities of the future,” Rouse said. “These are not just things that police officers use — they are the absolute keystone of what we do.”

Speakers noted analysts can crack into laptops, but also assist law enforcement in real time using traffic cameras and other tools to quickly identify and arrest suspects.
