The Sigma Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu (Sammy) was founded at the University of Texas on October 22, 1922. Since that day, we have established ourselves as a strong member of the UT Intrafraternity Council (IFC) and continue to make our presence known on campus. Every year, the members of Sigma Alpha Mu welcome friends, other UT students, and potential new members to events at the Sammy house.
In the Fall Semester, we have our annual Luau and Atlantic City events. Attending Luau, one can expect to see a giant volcano, bamboo, and maybe even a gorilla (costume) or two. Atlantic City, our biggest event of the year, has been an important part of Sigma Alpha Mu since its creation in 1983. Widely known as one of the greatest events on campus, we host over 1,000 people each year from all over the nation. We welcome members from other Sammy chapters all over the country, potential new members, members of other UT fraternities and sororities, and many other Texas students. In the Spring Semester, we participate in UT's famous Round-Up weekend with our annual Carlos 'n Charlie's event benefitting the Alzheimer's Association, for whom we raise thousands of dollars every year. Currently, we have over 130 members in Sigma Theta from 20 different states and are continuing to get stronger.
