What a great weekend at the Louisiana Athletic Trainers annual meeting. LSU’s own Derek Calvert received the Backbone Award, Shelly Mullenix was inducted into the LATA Hall of Fame, Kimberly Sagoes received the Bubba Porsche college student award, and Ella McCartie received the Eugene Christmas scholarship.

LSU Director of Sport Medicine Micki Collins, Director of Innovation Jack Marucci, MSAT Program Faculty Dr Kirsten Cunha, Preceptor Dr. Riley Proffer, Professor Neil Johannsen and Strength & Conditioning Coach Ashley Kowalewski were a part of the speaker lineup. Let’s not forget that the LSU MSAT students class of 2028 was able to attend their first conference and begin the networking process. Most importantly there was time for fellowship with our Athletic Training Alumni. What a great weekend to be a Tiger! Tonight we had the privilege of hanging out at Elite Training Academy with the Athletic Trainers from Ochsner Sports Medicine. It was a great opportunity for students from both of our cohorts to network with LSU Alumni and preceptors from Southeast Louisiana while burning some energy.

The “green team” emerged triumphant but we think there will be a rematch in the future! Thanks Ochsner for a wonderful night filled with laughs, connection and most importantly no injuries….except for sore muscles tomorrow! LSU Kinesiology LSU Athletic Training Alumni Network

Check out our amazing alumni and awesome students! HAPPY NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH!

March is National Athletic Training Month (NATM)—a time to recognize and raise awareness of the vital role athletic trainers play in keeping athletes safe, healthy, and performing at their best.

We’re proud to have two full-time certified athletic trainers on staff through our partnership with the BROC Foundation, and to serve as a clinical site for the LSU Master of Athletic Training Program. This partnership helps support not only our student-athletes, but also the next generation of athletic training professionals.

A special thank you to Raegan, Jack C., Cari, and Jack F. for the care, dedication, and expertise you provide to our Cub student-athletes every single day. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for all that you do!

Geaux Cubs! 💛🖤

What a wonderful opportunity to listen to the panelists speak about mental health last night in the PMAC! We are so fortunate to have this type of opportunity for the students in our program to listen to Ryan Clark, Sgt. Rick Yarosh, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Dr. Raymond Tucker and Ms. Sherrard Crespo talk about their experiences. Thank you to the Rain Will Bring Flowers foundation for educating our community!

White Light Night 2026 ✨

Last night, the LSU MS in Athletic Training Program proudly hosted our second annual White Light Night: an open-house poster presentation celebrating the research and hard work of our students.

Our Level II MSAT students did an amazing job presenting their research and engaging in conversations with faculty, peers, preceptors, and community partners. Nights like this highlight just how much growth happens in this program and how proud we are of the people in it!

Thank you so much to the pre-AT and MS students, our preceptors, program supporters, alumni, CHSE event services, our CHSE ambassadors, and CHSE and SOK administrators for your constant support of our students and program. Without you, none of this is possible.

Congratulations to Dakota Jackson, Molly Rosario, Mackenzie Sweatt, Siyana Begey, Bobbie Lyons, Hunter Smith, Ashley Konopada, Dani Meza, Livvy Shippy, Ahni Mire, Marisa Rickard, Derrek Lathon Jr, Devon Tucker, Cameron Besse, Cari Talley, and Mia Paragas💜💛
