As we start to have warmer days, remember the importance of outdoor safety!

Landscaping and gardening are great physical exercises, but those working outside must remain aware of the dangers of heat stress throughout the seasons.

As spring warms to summer, our bodies are not yet adapted to tolerate the heat. It doesn’t have to be 100 degrees outside for someone to experience heat stress.

Landscapers, gardeners, and growers need to remember to give their bodies time to adapt by initially scheduling shorter periods of outdoor work.

Did you know that it can take one to two weeks to build up a tolerance for working in the heat?

Gather some friends and register for From Garden to Teacup: An Herbal Tea Workshop! This tea garden party will take place on Wednesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. out at the ISU Horticulture Center Herb Garden. During this workshop, you will sample a variety of herbal teas, learn how herbs contribute flavor and aroma, and plant and assemble your very own mini container tea garden to take home.
