HED in action! We’re proud to celebrate HED faculty member Dr. Ryan Creps and HESA students Melissa Safford and Lauren Reinhart for helping rural students and families across Western New York navigate the financial aid process and access opportunities for higher education. Their work is a wonderful example of how our students and faculty are making a meaningful impact in our communities!

We’re excited to see UB Higher Education faculty Dr. Khadeja Ray and Dr. Megan Iantosca represented on an upcoming ECPS professional development panel for graduate students!

The session, “Applying for External Grants to Support Dissertation,” will bring together faculty with experience as external fellowship and grant recipients and reviewers. Panelists will share practical advice for developing competitive applications, navigating the grant and fellowship process, and pursuing funding for dissertation research.

Dr. Ray and Dr. Iantosca will be joined by Dr. Fabian Barch (CEP) and Dr. Tim Monreal (LAI).

Wednesday, September 23, 2026
11:00 AM–12:30 PM
Foster Hall, Room 229/230

The panel will highlight funding opportunities including the Spencer/National Academy of Education Fellowships, AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship, and AERA Dissertation Grant, while giving graduate students an opportunity to ask questions and learn from faculty experience.

We’re proud to have HED faculty contributing their expertise to this conversation and supporting the next generation of scholars!
