🚨 Event Alert: Justice or Vengeance? Israel’s New Death Penalty Regime for October 7 Suspects

Join us for a conversation with Sari Bashi, Executive Director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI), on Israel’s new Death Penalty for Terrorists Law. Passed by the Israeli Knesset in March 2026, the law establishes specialized military tribunals to try Palestinians suspected of participating in the October 7, 2023 attacks and to impose death sentences. Moderated by Daniel Levine-Spound, the discussion will examine concerns that these proceedings risk becoming show trials, with convictions potentially resting on confessions obtained through torture.

Join us for a discussion with Susanna Mancini and Michel Rosenfeld on their recent book Politicized Religion and the Reframing of Fundamental Rights. Moderated by Gerald Neuman and featuring a response from Katharine G. Young, the discussion will, among other things, examine how contemporary contests over human and civil rights are increasingly internationalized through transnational networks. By sharing legal strategies and coordinating advocacy across borders, these networks advance competing visions of the meaning and scope of fundamental rights.
