Morton College’s Summer 2026 Dual Enrollment program allows eligible high school students to earn FREE college credit while still in high school. Interested in registering? Please contact [email protected] for additional information. We recommend students apply by Monday, June 1st!

CSS 100 EC (College Study Seminar) is perfect for first-time dual enrollment students. This course introduces students to the college experience while exploring campus resources, career and major pathways, communication skills, healthy lifestyle habits, and strategies for college success. Open to college-ready students who are at least 15 years of age and successfully complete their freshman year of high school.

BIO 102 EC (Introduction to Biology) is a great option for students interested in science, healthcare, or fulfilling a general education science requirement early.
This course provides an overview of biology, including cell biology, genetics, reproduction, growth and development, evolution, and ecology through lecture and laboratory experiences. Open to college-ready students who have successfully completed their sophomore year of high school.

Dante Orfei and Micheal Kott – two individuals whose leadership and direction made the Jedlicka Performing Arts Center the cultural gem it is today – reunited at Saturday’s production of The Go-Between. It was the JPAC’s final performance of the 2025-26 season. While Micheal is retiring at the end of June, there’s still one more curtain call left for the JPAC's artistic director. He and Cindy Bryc Covington are doing D.L. Coburn’s “The Gin Game” June 19, 20, 26 and 27.

One of the more touching moments of Morton College’s annual Automotive Technology Career Day came with the presentations of the Duane Smith Memorial Scholarship. Duane, a beloved long-time adjunct faculty member who brought a wealth of career experience in the auto industry to the classroom at Morton College, passed away in February of 2023. A scholarship in his memory was established and his wife of 51 years, Nancy, was on hand to assist with the presentations. Nancy and her two children also are very involved in the scholarship selection process as they look for students with Duane’s character traits.

The Duane Smith O’Reilly Auto Parts Memorial Scholarship went to Lauro Vigil of Berwyn. Making the presentation was (from left) Elias Martinez, O’Reilly District Manager; Nancy Smith; Angel Flores, O’Reilly Store Manager at Berwyn location; and Don Sykora, chair and faculty member of Morton College’s Automotive Technology program.

Morton College enjoyed hosting today’s Northern Illinois Workforce Coalition (NIWC) Governing Board meeting.

NIWC brings together 15 community colleges in northern Illinois. The board’s focus is to improve workforce outcomes for the region. We had eight community college presidents and workforce education leaders from their respective institutions to discuss a regional strategy for improving workforce outcomes.
