Today's the 25th anniversary of 9-11 and it’s a day we need to never forget.

Let's remember a Morton College graduate among the close to 3,000 people who died that day.

His name was Jeffrey Mladenik, who received an associate’s degree in business management in 1979. The ordained minister was 43 years old and left behind a wife and four children.

He also was an executive at a technology company and pastor of Workplace Ministries at Christ Church of Oak Brook.

Rev. Mladenik died when American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to Los Angeles, which he was on, was hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City.

Morton College’s Counseling Department was out today in the Student Commons, promoting awareness of Su***de Awareness Month and 988 Day, the number to call or text to reach the Su***de Crisis Line.

Today, September 8th (9/8) also is 988 Day. Our Counseling Department put up a poster board and asked students to participant in “988 Reasons: Your reason is reason enough.”

Students could write a reason that keeps them going, something they look forward to, a person they care about, a goal or simply something meaningful to them and put it on the board.

Welcome back to campus tomorrow morning after a long holiday weekend.

Number of schools setting up shop in the Student Commons this week!

Got UIC Nursing & Dominican University from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow. Columbia College Chicago here from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Ends with a "two for Thursday" as Roosevelt University's Pharmacy School and National Louis University wrap up a busy week. Roosevelt hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while NLU's time frame is 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Don't forget about College Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 20th. 70-plus schools coming!

If you're interested in going the Nursing route at Morton College, you'll need to take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) Test.

To help you prepare, the Tutoring Center offers a series of TEAS Prep Sessions across a variety of subjects. Chemistry's the first session from 3 to 5 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, September 1st) in the Tutoring Center.

Missed a test and need to make it up? Your instructor will probably direct you to the Tutoring Center. Make-up testing hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Led by our certified ServSafe instructor, take our Food Service Sanitation Manager classes. Our one-day classes are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays, September 23rd and November 3rd.

As a part of the Strategies at Work Grant, Morton College offers a limited number of full CDL Class A scholarships to the employees from local businesses/nonprofits. It's on a first-come, first-serve basis!

CLASSROOM
40 hours of classroom instructions, including but is not limited to, preparation for Secretary of State written examinations and all chapters of this curriculum.

RANGE
20 hours of training yard behind-the-wheel instruction. This requires one-on-one instruction with a properly licensed CDL instructor and vehicle on an approved training lot.

OVER THE ROAD
20 hours of behind–the-wheel instruction on public streets and highways. This requires one-on-one instruction with a properly licensed CDL instructor and vehicle.

OBSERVATION
20 hours of experience comprised of observation of the practice range and over-the-road.

REMEDIAL TRAININGPERMIT AND PRE-TRIP INSPECTION
60 hours of observation and additional classroom, range and over-the-road training based on each CDL student’s specific needs.

TOTAL 160 hours (minimum 20 hours/week).
