🎃👻 A Spooktacular Afternoon of Learning! 🥨🧡

No tricks, just treats and a little Halloween learning! Our Family, Health, & Wellness Agent, Mary Presley McLellan, led a fun, hands-on Monster Munch Trail Mix activity where children made their own spooky snack using Cheerios, Teddy Grahams, mini chocolate chips, Goldfish crackers, and pretzels!

As they added each ingredient, they explored nutrition topics such as soluble fiber found in whole-grain oats, added sugars, sodium, and how different foods fit into a balanced eating pattern. They also learned how soluble fiber can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol when included as part of a heart-healthy diet.

The afternoon also included helpful Halloween safety reminders shared through MSU Extension publication, Halloween Safety Tips (M915)

A little creativity, a tasty treat, and lots of learning!! 🕸️🍬

🎄A Little Holiday Cheer, Stitched with Care! 🧵

Our Bolivar County Mississippi Community Volunteers (MCV) have completed 40 handmade holiday pillows as part of their community service efforts!

One of our valued community partners is Children’s of Mississippi in Jackson, MS. Through projects like this, our volunteers use their sewing skills to create handmade items for young patients and their families. We appreciate the dedication our members bring to these efforts and the care they put into every stitch.

Want to be part of MCV? Whether you enjoy sewing or have other skills to share, there are opportunities to get involved and contribute to projects that benefit others. Contact the Bolivar County Extension Office at 662-843-8361 to learn more!
