Congratulations to Liti-Ahenewa Zabad, who auditioned and was selected as the student speaker for Compton College’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 12, at 6:00 p.m.
Zabad is a mother of four and nontraditional student who returned to higher education to build a better life for herself and her family. She and her son, who is promoting from 6th grade to middle school, are proud to both be graduating this month.
Zabad, a dean’s list scholar, has earned two associate degrees, one in physical and biological sciences and another in psychology. She plans to continue her studies at Compton College to earn an associate degree in nursing and then transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Zabad’s message today is focused on inspiring others to be bold and unapologetic in pursuit of their dreams and the life they build for themselves. She is inspired by people who feel overlooked, underestimated, or are afraid to dream bigger because of the obstacles they have faced. “I would like to challenge others to make that one courageous decision that is the catalyst for becoming the person you were always meant to be.”
