Join the TCU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band for their first concert of the year - Monday, October 6 at 7 PM at the TCU Music Center in the Van Cliburn Concert Hall. Music of Giroux, Bryant, Marquez, Whitacre, Barnhouse, Vaughn Williams, Cuong, Wilson and Day. We will be featuring a new symphony by TCU alumni Kevin Day – Symphony No. 2. The 2nd movement is a written as an elegy dedicated to a Horned Frog band member who is no longer with us – Ivan Terriquez.

We are excited to announce the addition of Dr. Drew Dickey to the TCU Band Faculty as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands!

Dr. Dickey comes to TCU from the University of Texas at Austin, where he currently serves as Associate Director of the Longhorn Band and Assistant Director of Bands at the Butler School of Music. In addition to his appointment at TCU, Dr. Dickey serves as the Music Design Coordinator with the Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps in Diamond Bar, California, and as the brass educational lead with The Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps in Canton, Ohio.

The TCU School of Music is excited to announce that Dr. Thomas Singletary will join our faculty in August as our new Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Music Education.

Dr. Thomas Singletary is an active conductor, composer, clinician, and music educator. As a music arranger and transcriber for winds, he is highly regarded for his custom arrangements for high school and collegiate marching bands around the nation. A Georgia native, Singletary holds degrees in Music Education from Florida State University and the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. He earned a Ph.D. in Music Education and Wind Conducting from Florida State University, where he served as a teaching assistant for the university bands. Dr. Singletary currently serves as Chair of the Visual & Performing Arts Department at North Central Texas College where he conducts the North Central Texas Winds, a wind ensemble of college students, music educators, and community musicians.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Singletary taught music at Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida for seventeen years, where he led a team of teachers committed to musical excellence through concert band, marching band, jazz ensemble, and chamber music. Under his direction, the Eau Gallie Band gave highly acclaimed performances at many district, state and national festivals. In recognition of his achievements, Dr. Singletary received the Oliver Hobbs Award from the Florida Bandmasters Association and the Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association. His principal teachers include James Croft, Robert Sheldon, Clifford Madsen, Donald Schleicher, and Patrick Dunnigan.

From its creation in 1904 through today the TCU Band has had a storied existence. In honor of its 100th Anniversary and for the first time ever, the band's history comes alive through the telling of some of its most memorable moments. Thank you to all of the TCU volunteers who made CBDNA the amazing experience it was - your dedication to TCU Bands and the university as a whole was outstanding!
