Veteran Services and Human Resources teams had the pleasure of participating in the 33rd Annual Houston Stand Down! 🇺🇸

This meaningful event provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with veterans, active-duty military members, and military-affiliated individuals to share valuable information about educational benefits, academic programs, and career opportunities.

We are proud to support those who have served our country by helping them explore pathways to higher education, professional development, and meaningful career opportunities. Our commitment goes beyond providing information, we strive to empower veterans and military-connected individuals with the resources, guidance, and support they need to achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals.

We are grateful to have been part of this impactful event and to connect with fellow organizations and community partners who share our commitment to serving those who have served us.

At the heart of what we do is a commitment to helping veterans turn their experience, skills, and aspirations into new opportunities for success! 🇺🇸

This past week, Lone Star College Veteran Services had the opportunity to participate in several meaningful events honoring Patriot Day and the legacy of September 11.

At Lone Star College-North Harris, our team partnered with the campus to bring students, employees, and community resource representatives together for remembrance and connection. At Lone Star College-Montgomery, participants took part in the Patriot Day Challenge in recognition of the first responders who climbed the World Trade Center towers.

We closed out the week on Saturday by participating in the Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run 5K, joining members of the community to run, walk, volunteer, and honor those who served and sacrificed.

A special congratulations to Candace Bradley-Green, Sarah Killingsworth, and Irene Ortiz, M.S. for their leadership and coordination, and a sincere thank you to all of our team members who supported the 5K and helped make our participation possible.

Sharing a few photos from all three events as we continue to honor, remember, and never forget.

That’s a wrap on Fall 2026 On the Spot Certification!

It was such a pleasure visiting our campuses, connecting directly with our Veteran and Military Affiliated students, answering questions, and helping them prepare to start the semester with confidence.

This year, our new four-station model helped create a more streamlined student experience, from reviewing required documents to answering certification questions and providing clear next steps.

Thank you to our Veteran Services team, School Certifying Officials, Work Studies, Community partners, and most importantly, our students for making these events a success.

Here are a few photos capturing some of our favorite moments along the way. Wishing our students a successful Fall 2026 semester!

Whether you complete the full challenge or simply join us in support, your presence matters.
