Ithaca College awards bachelor of science and master of science degrees in speech-language pathology. The undergraduate program provides an excellent clinical and academic foundation in basic human communication processes, development, and disorders while providing a broad-based experience in liberal arts and general education. The capstone experience of the undergraduate degree in SLP is experiential learning through clinical practica during the junior or senior year at the Sir Alexander Ewing-Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic or at an approved off-campus clinic site, such as Longview or Head Start. The graduate education program in SLP at Ithaca College is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). This means that students who complete either graduate program will be eligible to apply for the Certificate in Clinical Competence in Speech-Language-Pathology (CCC-SLP) issued by ASHA upon passing the PRAXIS examination and completing a Clinical Fellowship (CF). http://www.ithaca.edu/hshp/depts/slpa

The SLPA residential faculty took some time to enjoy the sunshine Wednesday afternoon. These amazing Adirondack chairs are courtesy of Dr. Pat Lewis in the Health Sciences & Public Health Department department and his students. One of our own SLPA students, Calla Bobak, helped craft them!! If you are on campus, go check them out while they’re available. The view can’t be beat!! (Also, check out the adorable pumpkins gifted to the faculty by our 2nd year graduate students)! 🎃☀️

There are so many wonderful educators at Ithaca College, and the chance to reflect on their amazing work at retirement is bittersweet. This Ithacan article is a fabulous tribute to their dedication and knowledge, and it highlights our very own Dr. Lynne Hewitt. Check out the full article to read more.

Several Ithaca College faculty members retired from teaching at the end of Spring 2026. The Ithacan spoke with some of the retiring faculty members about their careers and memories at IC.
