Another fantastic WCR Fire Academy graduation! The Winter 2026 full-time Fire Academy and Fire II recruits graduated on Tuesday, April 21. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication.

This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the leadership of Coordinator Mike Troy, the dedicated professionals who support the program, and Mrs. Cindy Wilson—the person who truly keeps the fire academies running!

Hosted Girls in STEM at the Wayne County Regional police academy (Schoolcraft College) this weekend. 3 school districts, 80+ students, 6 stations…awesome experience. Proud of my role players and public safety partners! Canton PD K-9 officers, West Bloomfield PD detectives, Garden City PD, Schoolcraft College PD, Livonia FD, and my fantastic PSTC employees.
This event exposed young women to public safety careers and the “science” and technology of investigations.

The MSGCU (Michigan Schools & Government Credit Union) provided an exceptional December appreciation luncheon this afternoon. The food, desserts, and company did not disappoint. Schoolcraft College and the PSTC is lucky to have them as supporters of the police and fire academies. They provide numerous scholarships to recruits every class and also come in and give financial literacy presentations to young professionals. It takes a village, and we sure have a strong one!

Yesterday the PSTC hosted over 60 area high school counselors for a breakfast meeting and tour of our facility. An employer panel with questions and answers from the audience followed, and then hands-on demonstrations of what our police and fire Academy recruits experience. We are confident counselors are prepared to help us recruit the next generation of public safety professionals!

Another successful WCR Fire program family night. We hosted the families and friends of current Fire Academy and Fire II recruits. Thank you to the incredible leadership of Mike Troy, his cadre and the administrative staff Mrs. Cindy Wilson and Elizabeth Holmes-Scott for pulling off a first class event.
