Congratulations to MSIS student Lauren Oyama and her CSULB Computer Science teammates Mindy Yun and Jonathan Cortez, who earned second place in the 2026 Cal Poly Pomona Cybersecurity Poster Contest! 🏆
Their poster explores the security risks of “vibe coding,” when developers use generative AI to produce code quickly, sometimes without thoroughly checking for vulnerabilities. Drawing data from more than 100 large language models and over 9,000 AI-generated applications, the team identified common risks, languages especially susceptible to them, and practical ways to strengthen AI-generated code.
Their findings underscore the importance of human oversight and security reviews, alongside automated tools for vulnerability scanning, code analysis, and threat detection. 💻🔐
