The Tarjan Center is part of a national network of University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs).Founded in 1969, the Tarjan Center is unique in the national network. It is the only program based within a Department of Psychiatry (the Jane & Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior). Our founder, Dr. George Tarjan, was an internationally recognized exper

Researchers at UCLA are conducting a study to better understand how parents use (or do not use) health information when making decisions related to general health, sexual health, and vaccinations for their children with IDD.

Who can participate?
✔ Parents of children ages 12–22 with IDD
✔ Participation includes a Zoom interview and brief questionnaire
✔ Participants receive a $75 digital gift card

New Study on Parenting, Patience, and Disability: Your Voice is Needed

Our colleagues at the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing at Baylor University are inviting your involvement in a first-of-its-kind longitudinal research study exploring how parents experience and understand patience while raising children with developmental disabilities (ages 11-17). What does patience look like in this unique season? How might it help and what makes it so hard? They want to learn how to better support parents as their children with disabilities transition toward adulthood. This study involves completing an online survey each spring over four years and you will be paid for your time!
