The Tarjan Center is part of a national network of University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs).Founded in 1969, the Tarjan Center is unique in the national network. It is the only program based within a Department of Psychiatry (the Jane & Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior). Our founder, Dr. George Tarjan, was an internationally recognized exper

On Monday, September 21, Dr. Dorothy Wiley will present: From Under-Vaccination to Trust & Engagement: A Community-Partnered Pathway to Vaccine Equity

This free virtual lecture will explore how the HPV vaccine helps prevent cancer, why some people with disabilities may experience barriers to vaccination, and how research and community partnerships can support informed vaccine choices.

We’re excited to share a new three-year, $5.4 million partnership between the UCLA Tarjan Center and the California Department of Developmental Services.

This work will support Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building job skills, finding employment opportunities, developing leadership and self-advocacy skills, and gaining real-world work experience.

We’ll also expand training and resources for people with disabilities, families, professionals, and community partners across California.

Could your child’s attention difficulties be related to prenatal alcohol exposure?

Researchers at UCLA are looking for children ages 8–12 to participate in a study evaluating a non-medication treatment for children with prenatal alcohol exposure and symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity.

Children who qualify will receive:
✔️ A cognitive and behavioral assessment
✔️ An evaluation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)
✔️ Four weeks of Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation (TNS) during sleep
✔️ Two MRI brain scans (no radiation)
✔️ A $100 Target gift card

If you’ve been told your child may have ADHD or if they’ve been diagnosed, you may be eligible to participate.
