At our recent Judges and Lawyers Networking Event, students had the opportunity to connect with several judges and attorneys from across New York City. Through group conversations, St. John’s students learned from experienced legal professionals, ask questions, and gain valuable perspectives on pursuing careers across different areas of law.

Experiences like these help Johnnies build meaningful connections, bridge the gap between classroom and courtroom, and prepare for their future in the legal profession.

We had an amazing time at our “Reachable Entrepreneurs” event with St. John’s University alumnus Steven J. Farella ’77SVC! 🚀👏

Students had the opportunity to learn how entrepreneurship can be reachable—and how they can turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality, even with limited resources. 💭➡️💼

Drawing from his incredible career in communications, media, entrepreneurship, and investment, Steven shared insights from his journey—from beginning his career in the advertising industry to self-funding and building his own agency and continuing to reinvent himself throughout his career. 📈💡

St. John’s University students recently explored the intersection of sports, media, technology, business and culture through More in Common: The “Sportsploitation” of Modern Society—a two-day event designed to spark conversation, challenge perspectives and look beyond the games we watch. 🎥

From NIL and influencer culture to AI, algorithms, mental health and gambling, students engaged in thought-provoking discussions with documentary director and executive producer Arize Ifejika, exploring how today’s media landscape shapes the world around us—and how the next generation can help shape what comes next.

🎙️ Dr. Elisabeth Fondren, Associate Professor of Journalism at St. John’s University, recently joined BBC World Service’s "BBC Witness History" to discuss the history of war reporting and international journalism, with a focus on frontline reporting during the Battle of Mandalay in World War II.

🌎💻 This summer, we welcomed 18 students from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to St. John's University for Smart Defenses: AI-Powered Cybersecurity for a Connected World, a two-week summer program offered through CCPS.

Students explored cybersecurity through hands-on learning with CCPS faculty, engaged with industry leaders from organizations including Barclays Bank and Protiviti, and gained insights from cybersecurity professionals working across healthcare, technology, and cyber recovery.

Beyond the classroom, students experienced New York City through cultural activities—including a Yankees game! ⚾

We look forward to growing this international partnership and welcoming even more students from around the world in the years ahead.
