CSUN’s Black Scholars Matter program celebrated the graduation of four students from its first cohort, marking a milestone for the academic enrichment and mentorship program. 🎓

Since launching in 2022, BSM has provided academic, social, and emotional support, while fostering community and Black culture on campus.

Innovation was on full display at CSUN’s Senior Design Project Showcase, where engineering and computer science students presented more than 40 capstone projects, including autonomous rovers, fire-resistant structures and a shape-morphing robotic hawk. 🚀

The grand prize went to CSUN ISAM, a student team that developed an autonomous rover for future NASA missions to the Moon and Mars.

More than 10,000 graduates and guests gathered at CSUN Honors Convocation 2026 to hear alumnus Doug Emhoff ’87 reflect on how the university helped shape his path — from working student, to the nation’s first Second Gentleman. 🎓

“CSUN helped me get there,” Emhoff told students as he encouraged them to stay engaged and lead with purpose.

Presidents of five California State University campuses gathered on March 18 to discuss how their respective universities are driving economic growth, strengthening partnerships in various industries and preparing graduates for the future.

The Greater Los Angeles Cal State campuses, including Cal State Northridge, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Long Beach and Cal Poly Pomona, also known as the “CSU5,” have collectively boasted over 1.3 million alumni.

CSUN President Erika D. Beck, who chairs “CSU5,” called the 50% of Los Angeles’ graduates from the CSUs as “L.A.’s talent infrastructure” — where the universities generate a $10-billion industry that supports 75,000 jobs.

During the first commencement ceremony of the season, Andrew J. Anagnost ’87 served as keynote speaker for the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Science and Mathematics.

Anagnost, a alumnus and president and CEO of Autodesk, shared inspiring words with graduates about resilience, grit and finding a path where they can make a difference.

He praised for believing in him and providing the foundation for his journey. Anagnost encouraged graduates to pursue their goals and not be afraid to fail. He told graduates to use their grit, leverage their difference and follow their impact.
