Congratulations to Dr. Stephanie Goodrich, UNO adjunct instructor, on being recognized as a Champion of Disability Employment! You are an incredible role model for inclusionary work spaces. Thank you for all you do!

Dr. Stephanie Goodrich was recognized as a Champion of Disability Employment for her outstanding commitment to providing students with disabilities with meaningful workplace opportunities and deep community connections.

Dr. Goodrich wears many professional hats, balancing roles across business, management, and higher education. She serves as the General Manager of Oak View Mall in Omaha, owns two locations of The Brunch Box (well-known for its robotic food server, "Bella"), and teaches future educators as an Adjunct Instructor of Special Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

In every role, Dr. Goodrich actively promotes inclusion and educates local employers on the immense value, talent, and capabilities that individuals with disabilities bring to the workforce. By offering hands-on learning experiences and structured workplace exposure, she bridges the gap between the classroom and a career.

Her impactful work directly supports the mission of Nebraska VR by fostering independence, expanding competitive employment opportunities, and building a more inclusive community where everyone has the chance to succeed. Dr. Goodrich is a premier role model, showing how dedication and collaborative leadership create lasting, positive change.

Way to go, Nafeesah!

Congratulations to Nafeesah Husain! She is the 2026 recipient of the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Endowment Fund Scholarship and will be recognized at the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association Fall Convention.

"I am a second-year graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska, and have had the opportunity to gain clinical experience across a variety of settings including UNO’S in-house clinic, schools, the NICU, inpatient rehab, and community-based programs. I am currently completing my medical externship at CHI Health Immanuel on the inpatient rehab TBI team. Through my various experiences, I have worked with individuals across the life span with language, speech sound, neurogenic communication, cognitive, and feeding and swallowing disorders.

My passion for speech-language pathology stems from growing up bilingual and witnessing firsthand how language and cultural differences can impact communication, connection, and access to care. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career where I can build meaningful connections, advocate for equitable and culturally responsive care, and make a lasting impact in the lives of others. I am grateful to be entering a profession that allows me to help people communicate, connect, and feel heard and valued."
