The Temple University School of Pharmacy awards degrees in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, and regulatory affairs and quality assurance and leads innovations in pharmacy practice and science. Established in 1901, the Temple University School of Pharmacy, carries more than a centuryโ€™s worth of history and reliability in pharmacy education. Our programs, assets, and products support our ongoing s

uccess in creating opportunities to transform lives. The School provides opportunities to earn degrees in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, and regulatory affairs and quality assurance and lead innovations in pharmacy practice and science. We promote and preserve pharmacy and pharmacy-related professions by delivering excellence and opportunity through education, scholarship, research, and practice. Students benefit from the School's long-standing connections across the job marketplace as well as from the infrastructure of Temple University. In 2010, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching recognized Temple as one of only 99 public and private universities to merit the "Research Universities/High Research Activity" classification. Our research operations go far beyond the lab. Three biotech startups have emerged from the School and are positioned to change the course of medical treatment of major disease states.

Last week we celebrated the conclusion of the Immigrant Health Education Training Series at our Honoring Partnerships in Immigrant Health reception.

The initiative, which kicked off in 2023, started with 14 community conversations and a landscape assessment of 50+ organizations serving immigrant populations in Philadelphia and grew into something remarkable: a Community Advisory Board of immigrant health community leaders, four education webinars co-designed with community voices, and 260+ healthcare providers, faculty, students, and staff trained on culturally responsive immigrant health care.

To every partner, advisor, and community leader who participated: thank you. Together we are building stronger, healthier, more inclusive communities for everyone in Philadelphia.

Today, we continue our celebration of our 125 TUSP Heroes with educators who didn't just teach pharmacy, they shaped what pharmacy could be.

From Dr. Elaine Mackowiak opening the door to nuclear pharmacy, to Dr. Rachel Clark's devotion to her oncology patients and students alike, to Dr. Jason Gallagher, Dr. Michael Mancano, and Dr. Lawrence Carey continuing that tradition today, each of these heroes have left their mark on our school and our students. ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿฆ‰

As part of our 125th anniversary celebration, Temple Pharmacy students continue to make an impact through the 125 Acts of Service Challenge by bringing care, compassion, and health education to communities near and far.

From preparing meals with MANNA, volunteering at St. Francis Inn, supporting community wellness at the Thriving Together Expo and local pharmacies, and distributing dental care bags to residents in rural Panama, our students are showing what it means to lead with service and compassion.

At Temple Pharmacy, learning extends beyond the classroom and our students are helping improve lives, one act of service at a time.

On April 24, Temple Pharmacy came alive with the energy of discovery. Research Recognition Day 2026 brought together more than 30 student researchers to present original work to alumni judges, faculty, and peers. The breadth and quality of the research on display was a testament to what makes Temple Pharmacy's training so distinctive.

The keynote address came from Dr. Robert R. Ruffolo, Jr., PhD, one of the pharmaceutical industry's most accomplished scientists. Over four decades, Dr. Ruffolo led R&D teams that brought 38 medicines to market, including carvedilol (Coregยฎ), which is now credited with saving tens of millions of lives worldwide. His address gave students an inspiring and candid look at what a career in pharmaceutical science can look like.

A career panel featuring Temple alumni and faculty added real-world perspective to the day's scientific programming.

The event also featured the official launch of Temple Pharmacy's 125 Most Impactful Research Publications, which celebrates 125 years of TUSP discovery, innovation, and impact.

Thank you to our generous sponsors: Jan Kitzen, PhD, BSPharm '72; David Kwasny, BSPharm '76; and Gregory Papa, BSPharm '75.
