Congratulations to UTDesign Capstone Team "Operation Clean Sweep" on winning First Place at the 2026 Capstone Design Conference, held June 1-3 at Texas A&M University! 🏆

Competing against top student engineering teams from across the country, the team earned the conference's highest honor for their Pharmaceutical Retrieval Robot, an industry-sponsored project developed in partnership with AstraZeneca. The national conference brought together participants from 77 universities, with only 20 teams selected as national finalists. UTDesign Capstone had two teams among those finalists, including Operation Clean Sweep and the Eisana-sponsored Mini Chiller for Portable Medical Applications team.

Congratulations to team members Lily Evertse, Andrew Nacy, Grant Vavro, Jake Huynh, John Ferrante and Ken Shibatani, as well as their faculty mentors, UTDesign staff and sponsor AstraZeneca.

This achievement reflects the power of hands-on engineering education and the outstanding talent of our students. We are proud to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment and look forward to sharing more about the project soon.

A team of UT Dallas engineering students is headed to NASA’s Johnson Space Center to present a redesigned lunar tool-cart handle built for future moon missions. Team Laika’s prototype focuses on astronaut safety, ergonomics and functionality in extreme lunar conditions and will even be tested in NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory.
