✨ Meet our ANDer of the Month, Joylynn A. ✨

We're proud to spotlight Joylynn, an NU scholarship recipient, full-time instructional assistant, and Sociology graduate. 💙

Joylynn earned her B.A. in Sociology with a passion for understanding people and creating new opportunities for her future. Through hard work, perseverance, and the support of her scholarship, she gained confidence in her abilities and is committed to making a positive impact on students, families, and educators in her local school district.

Her advice: “Try your best. As long as you put forth your best effort, keep going.”

Joylynn's dedication to learning, growth, and service embodies what it means to be an ANDer while inspiring others in the community and beyond to pursue their educational goals. 💙

We're proud to spotlight Andrew Strong (NU, MA, '09), recipient of the inaugural Partners for Justice Champion Award and a public servant with 25+ years of service — including nine years as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman and 18 years with San Diego County. His vision brought PFJ to San Diego as the only site in the nation focused exclusively on youth in the legal system, helping 300+ young people access housing, health care, and education since 2023. Now stepping into his next chapter through A. Strong Legacy LLC, Andrew is helping youth, veterans, and professionals be fueled by purpose and leave strong legacies of their own. Congratulations, Andrew — here's to the impact still ahead!

Today is , and the National University community got an early start.

Last weekend, the NU Service Corps joined the 's Day of Service to clean up Santa Gertrudis Creek & Trail. Thank you to Vince (NU, MBA ‘23), NU's director of government relations, for leading our team and welcoming volunteers with coffee and donuts.

Service is a core part of the NU community, and it’s even better when alumni, students, friends, and neighbors do it together.

“I am the first generation of immigrant parents to graduate, a woman who started her adult life with the ambition of being a broadcast journalist, ultimately failed and jumped from industry to industry for many years until I found a passion in legal work. National University made this dream come true.”

For Cristina, earning her A.S. in Paralegal Studies was proof that it's never too late to pursue a dream.

After immigrating from the Philippines, raising three children, and overcoming life's challenges, Cristina returned to school and discovered her passion for legal studies.

Cristina's story is a powerful reminder that determination, hard work, and belief in yourself can open the door to new possibilities.

✨ President's Circle Spotlight: Kathryn B. ✨

For Kathryn B., earning her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Trauma Informed Systemic Therapy marked the beginning of a new chapter shaped by purpose and service.

Inspired by her personal connection to military families and trauma recovery, Kathryn pursued a path dedicated to helping others heal. Today, she is building her practice, working toward licensure, and hoping to mentor future clinicians along the way.

Her insight: “It was a testament to how much we can be stretched. I feel more prepared to handle life's stressors.”

Kathryn's journey is a reminder that growth often begins when we challenge ourselves to do hard things and trust in our ability to keep moving forward.
