Meet Kayla Ratay our next Alumni Spotlight!

Current Role/School:
Elementary Art Teacher with Charles County Public Schools in Maryland

“My early childhood education program at Saint Francis gave me a strong foundation in child development, teaching, and classroom management. It also taught me how important it is to be flexible, creative, and willing to meet students where they are. Those skills have helped me grow from an early childhood educator into the art teacher I am today.

My biggest advice is to take advantage of every opportunity you have to work with young children and learn from experienced teachers. Ask questions, try new things, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You won’t have everything figured out on your first day, and that’s okay! Some of the best teaching comes from being willing to reflect, adjust, and keep learning.”
