Academy #169 Update - This week, our cadets have reminded us exactly what this program is made of.

This past Sunday, under beautiful skies, our cadet group headed to the range — and they delivered.

We’re proud to share that this group posted some of the highest qualification scores we’ve seen in years. The hard work shows, and it showed up when it counted.

But the range was only part of it. This week also brought 40 hours on the mat, working through compliance and control techniques alongside six highly qualified subject matter expert instructors — some of the finest specialized instructors in the region. The dedication, the grit, and the camaraderie these cadets have shown is something truly special to witness.

No complaints. No shortcuts. Just everything they’ve got, every single day!

They’ve earned a couple of days of rest — and they deserve it. Come Monday, they’ll be testing, and based on everything we’ve seen, they are more than ready!

We invite anyone interested in a law enforcement career to join us for our upcoming informational sessions next week. At PCC, we don’t just train officers — we walk alongside you, with dedicated staff committed to helping you reach your goals

Big news from Pitt Community College Law Enforcement Training Center!

After hearing your feedback, we said goodbye to FundFive and hello to a brand-new training registration website — built from scratch by Ms. Sabrina. The new site has everything you need in one place: online courses that are live and filling up fast, in-person training on the calendar, easy registration for officers and coordinators, AND new self-service resources so officers can access their PCC accounts and print unofficial CE transcripts 24/7 — no phone calls needed.

Upcoming in-person training includes Human Factors & the Science of Force, Law Enforcement Sniper School, Police Law Institute, and SFST, with Drone courses, TCCC, Red Dot Instructor School and more coming soon.

Officers — if this is helpful to you, please pass it along to your colleagues and training coordinators so no one misses out!

Our staff had the honor of attending the pinning ceremony at Greenville Police Department as 8 new officers and their families were welcomed to the department. Six of those officers are recent graduates of PCC's Academy #167. We are so grateful when our partnering agencies include us in moments like these — there is nothing better than watching our graduates continue to excel in their careers. Congratulations to all 8 new officers!

Academy #169 Update — Week 7

These cadets are not slowing down! Since our last update, they've tackled criminal investigations, responding to victims, first responder training, and more fi****ms work — including their first trip to the range. All 16 students not only qualified, they all did exceptionally well. In the cold.

Graded practical scenarios have been woven throughout each block of training, and this class has been rising to the challenge every step of the way.

Our cadets are showing up and showing out! We're on day 5 of 10 straight days in the classroom due to inclement weather, and these future officers are being absolute troopers about it.

Academy #169 Snow Day Check-In: Three weeks into training, then Mother Nature said "take a break!" Two snow days and counting.

While the college is closed, our Academy #169 family is still connected. Our cadets (and our director and coordinators!) sent in pictures of snow-covered cars, snowmen being built, kids playing in the snow, fur babies loving the winter weather, and lots of views from warm windows wondering when this will all melt.

Just because we're snowed in doesn't mean we're off duty - our coordinators are creating practice tests, grading reports and nutritional logs, and touching base with cadets to make sure everyone's doing okay.

Squad A - your patrol cars are missing you, but they're holding down the fort and staying warm under all that snow!

Yes, we jumped on the AI cartoon trend too. We couldn't resist!

Before they're the officers serving our community, they're neighbors and parents just like you - enjoying this rare Eastern NC snow and definitely hoping we can reschedule classes to save Spring Break!

Even on snow days, Bulldogs take care of their pack. That's what family does.

Stay safe out there! Those 5am workouts will be back before you know it!

BLET Academy #169 - Week 2 Wrap-Up!

What a week for our cadets! They're proving that with the right training and dedication, excellence becomes the standard.

Week 2 Highlights:
* Police Officer Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Our future officers pushed through the grueling Physical Abilities Test in 28-degree weather, demonstrating the strength and endurance required in the field. Chase & Apprehension and Rescue scenarios completed!

* Communication & De-Escalation - 24 hours of intensive training in the skills that matter most: building community trust, managing conflict, and applying the Critical Decision-Making Model. Our instructors coached cadets through real-world scenarios, preparing them to communicate effectively with people of all ages, cultures, and conditions.

* Crisis Intervention Training - Learning to recognize and respond appropriately to individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities - because great officers know the difference between danger and those who need help.

The Results Speak for Themselves: 3 state end-of-block exams completed with a 100% PASS RATE!

This class is doing outstanding work, and our instructors are pouring everything into their success. At PCC, we don't just test you - we teach you what you need to know to succeed. If you put in the work, we'll get you where you need to be!

Keep pushing, Academy #169 - you're building the foundation for exceptional law enforcement careers!

Interested in becoming part of our next academy? We'll give you the tools, training, and support to become the officer your community needs.

Week 1 is in the books for BLET Academy #169!

What an incredible start with our 17 cadets! This week we moved into our newly renovated BLET classroom — huge shoutout to our IT department for the amazing audio/visual overhaul. The difference is night and day, and our students are already benefiting from this enhanced learning environment!

This week laid the critical foundation these future officers will build on for the next several months:
✅ Critical Decision Making - Two full days diving deep into how split-second choices shape outcomes on the street. This isn't just theory; it's the mindset that will guide them through every call, every interaction, every shift.
✅ Cooper's Fitness Assessment - Our cadets showed up and showed out for their initial physical fitness baseline. The journey to peak performance starts now!
✅ Squad Assignments - From maintaining our facility to keeping vehicles and equipment inspection-ready, these responsibilities instill the pride and professionalism they'll carry throughout their careers.

Every drill, every lesson, every standard we set this week is designed to send officers into our communities who are prepared, professional, and proud of the badge they'll earn.

We can't wait to share this journey with you! Follow along as these 17 individuals transform into the law enforcement professionals our community deserves.
