NAIDOC Week 2022

Time: From 3 of July to 10 of July.

NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Theme of this year is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

We all must continue to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for systemic change.

Whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism—we must do it together.

Refugee Alternatives Webinar June 2022

How community-led organisations in Australia are key to refugee protection and integration?

The extent to which refugee community-led organisations are supporting people who are newly arrived in Australia, seeking asylum, or living as refugees elsewhere in the world is poorly understood and rarely acknowledged. The breadth and depth of assistance provided by mostly volunteer-run community-led organisations - as well as the unique challenges they face - can be invisible to those outside of refugee communities.

Join us for our second Refugee Alternatives Webinar to hear speakers from some of the many hundreds of refugee community-led organisations that exist across Australia talk about the ways that they respond to the ever-changing challenges, hopes and aspirations of their communities, and how we can better acknowledge, support and amplify the strengths within community networks.

This webinar will be held on 9 June, before Refugee Week which celebrates positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. Tickets for the webinar are free.

CEITE ACCEPT is celebrating International Women's Day and Harmony Day by offering a free SBS Inclusion Program to all HE and VET students from College of Engineering, IT and Environment.

The SBS Inclusion program is a 12-hour online course that is created to promote diversity and inclusion in Australian Society. This key course can be completed within one year and participants can work at their own pace. On completion of this course, an individual can gain an insight into the different inclusion aspects of Gender, Culture, Disability and Age, which overall increases our togetherness in Australian Society. Every individual would want their acknowledgement and from this course, we all would be able to explore, accept and celebrate our diverse world and by doing so, contribute to an inclusive and cohesive society.

ACCEPT Team at the College of Engineering, IT and Environment is sponsoring the SBS Inclusion program to thirty candidates (all CEITE staff and students will have first preference). Students will will receive a certificate of achievement on finishing this course.

Please contact [email protected] to RSVP, places are only for 30 people and don’t wait.
