🏆 WINNERS ANNOUNCED 🎨

After receiving over 40 incredible submissions and hundreds of votes, the winners of the first-ever Better Together Art Competition have officially been decided 👏✨

🥇 1st Place – Jenna Winters, Don’t Hold On
Jenna’s powerful piece explores the emotional weight of holding on and the growth that comes with letting go. Through striking imagery and symbolism, the artwork reflects renewal, resilience, and self-discovery.

🥈 2nd Place – Simbarashe Mutyambizi, Stitched from Many Skies
Simba’s artwork celebrates learning from cultures and experiences across the world, bringing together artistic influences from Asia, Africa, and Australia into one vibrant and meaningful piece.

The Better Together Art Competition invited CDU students to explore the theme Identity & Individuality, encouraging creativity, authenticity, and self-expression while helping foster a more inclusive and respectful CDU community.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted artwork and everyone who voted and supported the competition. The creativity and talent shared throughout this campaign has been incredible 🌟

Student groups help bring CDU to life 💛

Last week, student group executives from across CDU campuses came together for the Leading Student Communities at CDU training day.

Across the day, students explored leadership, teamwork, inclusion, respectful communities, event planning, and ways to create positive experiences for students at CDU. From workshops and group activities to planning for the year ahead, there was plenty of collaboration, conversation, and idea sharing ✨

It was great to see so many student group executives passionate about creating opportunities for others to connect, get involved, and feel part of the CDU community!

Respect Month wrapped up last week, but the conversations don’t stop here.

Over the past month, there were a lot of opportunities to learn more about respect, relationships, and gender-based violence. This video is a moment to pause and reflect on what that looks like in everyday life.

Respect shows up in how people treat each other, how they listen, and how they respond when something is not right. Looking out for each other and speaking up can make a real difference.

✨ CDU’s Got Talent 2026 – What a Night! 🎤

Last Friday, CDU’s Got Talent brought an incredible evening of energy, creativity and entertainment, with a fantastic turnout from our student community 🙌 From powerful vocals and cultural dances to hilarious acts and surprise performances, CDU absolutely delivered.

A massive thank you to everyone who performed, attended and supported the event 💙 and to our judges for their time and support on the night.

👏 This event would not have been possible without the amazing work of our student groups, CDU Engineering Students Society (ESS) and Mini Soccer & Cricket- Charles Darwin University. Your effort truly made this night happen.

From 2026, Respect Matters training is compulsory for all Charles Darwin University students. There are several study sessions available, kindly hosted by the Better Together Committee.

💬 Staff will be there to support you through the modules, answer questions, and provide a welcoming space (plus snacks 🍪).

📍 Session dates and locations:
• Danala – 15 April
• Casuarina – 27 April
• Online – 28 April
• Sydney – 29 April

⏱ The training will take around 90 minutes via Learnline, covering consent, respectful relationships, and how to support others.
