Thank you so much to for coming to see our production of Guys and Dolls in Concert and for such a thoughtful and generous review.
“A hugely entertaining and visually stylish staging of Guys and Dolls from the Chichester Conservatoire Musical Theatre Music (MTM) cohort. What could easily have been a static concert version instead felt theatrically alive throughout, thanks to the excellent direction of Nick Bond , dynamic use of platforms, strong lighting design, and a fantastic sense of mise en scène. The glowing neon signage and integrated band platforms created a vibrant Broadway atmosphere from the moment the show began.
Musically, the band under the direction of Thomas Currie was superb, with a luscious brass section giving the score real swagger and warmth. The ensemble numbers were particularly strong, full of energy, character, and excellent musical cohesion. The production beautifully reflected the MTM ethos championed by producer Meredith Braun, with students demonstrating strong storytelling, individuality, and confidence throughout.
Standout performances came from Louise Burman, Toria Griffiths, Abigail Ball, Emma Fairbrass, Mollie Hawes, and William Somerfield. While a few characterisations could still be explored in greater depth, the overall standard across the company was very strong.
A vibrant, confident, and hugely enjoyable evening of musical theatre.”
Huge congratulations to all involved both onstage and off. 🎭✨
