๐Ÿšจ Weโ€™re excited to share ENACT-ED (Evidence into National Action for remote Care Transformation in Eating Disorders) a new project launched to develop first national guidance for remote eating disorder care in England.

Remote eating disorder care is now a core part of treatment across England, yet there is still no national guidance to ensure that care is safe, equitable, and consistent.

Funded by the Medical Research Foundationโ€™s Changing Policy and Practice Programme, ENACT-ED brings together researchers from the RHED group at Northumbria University and the Regional Eating Disorders Charities Alliance & Network (REDCAN) to co-develop the first-ever national guidance for remote eating disorder care.

Together, weโ€™ll develop practical, policy-ready recommendations that reflect the needs of the people who matter most.

Upcoming events and sessions include:
๐Ÿ“ Roundtable events across the UK (Mayโ€“July 2026)
๐Ÿ“ Dedicated sessions for lived experience, NHS services, and voluntary sector staff
๐Ÿ“ A national policy briefing event in late 2026 aimed at driving meaningful system-wide change

Events are taking place in Derby, Sheffield, South West England, and online.

As project lead Dr Dawn Branley-Bell explains:
โ€œThe shift to remote care happened rapidly, but the guidance to support it has not kept pace. People affected by eating disorders deserve confidence that the remote care they receive meets a consistent national standard.โ€

โšฝ We're proud to announce a new strategic partnership with England Football Learning โ€” The Football Association's education arm โ€” to transform development for the next generation of football coaches.

Launching in September 2026, our new Football Coaching and Performance degree integrates fully-funded UEFA coaching qualifications directly into the undergraduate experience, creating more accessible pathways to elite coaching careers.

As Kim Hide, Director of FA Learning, puts it: this partnership reflects a shared commitment to "raising standards across the game โ€” from grassroots to the professional level โ€” by creating clearer, more accessible pathways for development."

Weโ€™re proud to share that the Furniture & Product Design BA (Hons) course has been named a Circular Champion at the inaugural Design Conformity Awards.

Earlier this year, our final-year students collaborated on a live project with Design Conformity, exploring circular design principles and carbon-efficient furniture design. Their work earned multiple Emerging Designer awards and now the course itself has been recognised for embedding sustainability at the heart of the curriculum.

A huge congratulations to our students and team for championing a more sustainable future for design ๐ŸŒโ™ป๏ธ

Something very special is coming to Newcastle this month. ๐ŸŽญ

The Other Side of Me, a powerful, internationally acclaimed dance production with deep roots here at Northumbria, arrives at Northern Stage on Wednesday 20 May for its UK premiere.

The show was first planned for Newcastle back in 2020, but Covid put a stop to it. Six years on, it finally makes it to the city - and it carries extra meaning as a tribute to the woman who first imagined it: Dr Laura Fish, a Northumbria lecturer, award-winning writer, and passionate champion of storytelling as a force for justice, who passed away in 2024.

The Other Side of Me tells the story of Australia's Stolen Generations through breathtaking contemporary and First Nations dance - two performers, two sides of the same man, one profoundly moving story.

What a night. ๐Ÿ†

Last night at the Educate North Awards 2026, Northumbria University had plenty to celebrate.
Our Marketing team took home the Campaign of the Year award and Northumbria Students' Union won the Charity/Third Sector of the Year title.

Built to break down the barriers that hold so many people back from considering university, the Unlock Your Potential campaign spoke directly to those who've told themselves "I'm not smart enough", "I can't afford it", or "it's too late for me", and turned those doubts into something that felt like possibility. It's a campaign that goes to the heart of what we're here to do: drive social mobility and widen access to higher education in a region that needs it most.

Northumbria Students' Union was recognised for a remarkable year. With record numbers of students signing up as members of societies, record voter turnout, thousands of students supported through its wellbeing programme and raising ยฃ60k for charity, the SU has been making a huge impact. A brilliant result for a brilliant team.

We were also finalists in a number of other categories:

โญ Community Engagement Award (HE/FE Sector) โ€” Northumbria Students' Union's Students as Partners initiative with Newcastle College and Newcastle Students' Union
โญ Community Engagement Award (University Sector) โ€” NU Navigators, our work with secondary schools
โญ Digital and AI Innovation Award (University Sector) โ€” Norman Managed Services, our 24/7 IT support team
โญ Mental Health and Wellbeing Award โ€” Northumbria Students' Union
โญ Law School of the Year โ€” Northumbria Law School (Highly Commended)
โญ Student Experience Award (University Sector) โ€” Northumbria Students' Union

A proud night for Northumbria. Well done to everyone involved.
