De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) gathered faculty members, students, and more than 600 online registrants for the LLD Research Proposals Presentation on October 28, 2026.

Organized by the Language and Literature Department (LLD) in partnership with the University Research Office (URO) and the College of Professional and Graduate Studies (CPGS), the hybrid event aimed to strengthen the university’s research culture, encourage collaboration, and align departmental research directions with current scholarship.

The program opened with a guest lecture by Nicanor L. Guinto, PhD, director of the Office of Research Services and Full Professor III at Southern Luzon State University. His talk, titled “Free and Freeing Linguistics,” challenged prescriptive approaches to language, linguistic hierarchies, and teaching practices that fail to reflect how students actually use language.
The event also featured proposed interdisciplinary research projects developed in collaboration with other DLSU-D colleges, including the College of Education (COE), College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), and College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT).

Among the proposed initiatives were a language policy for DLSU-D, a documentary project on Cavite heritage cuisine in Filipino, and the translation of the Philippine Building Code or BP 220-related socialized housing guidelines into Filipino.

Through the LLD Research Proposals Presentation, the department sought to strengthen research engagement, foster interdisciplinary partnerships, and develop projects connecting language, literature, education, and local heritage with practical community and institutional needs.

Students, faculty members, and aspiring finance professionals gained valuable industry insights during the recent “The Next Frontier: Insights on the Future of Finance & Taxation,” a special learning session hosted at De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D).

The event featured Lasallian alumnus Jared D. Majaba, CPA, a seasoned international tax and accounting professional currently serving as APAC Statutory Accounting Lead and Director for Tax Transformation Consulting at Deloitte Global Tax Center Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore.

The forum provided participants with an opportunity to explore emerging trends reshaping the fields of finance, taxation, and regulatory compliance in an increasingly digital and interconnected business environment. Drawing from more than two decades of professional experience, Majaba shared perspectives on how organizations across the Asia-Pacific region are adapting to technological advancements, evolving tax regulations, and the growing demand for integrated financial reporting systems.

During the session, attendees were encouraged to look beyond traditional finance functions and consider the increasing role of digital transformation, data analytics, and cross-border regulatory developments in shaping career opportunities. The discussion highlighted the need for future accountants and finance professionals to develop not only technical expertise but also adaptability, strategic thinking, and proficiency in emerging technologies.

The event also underscored the value of industry-academic partnerships in preparing students for the demands of a rapidly changing business landscape.

Through initiatives such as The Next Frontier, DLSU-D continues to provide students with access to global industry leaders and real-world perspectives that complement classroom learning.
