#𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐒𝐔𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝙏𝘼𝙔𝙊𝙂 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 Special Commencement Exercises
BulSU celebrated the academic achievements of 184 graduates during the Special Commencement Exercises 2026, under the theme "TAYOG: Pag-Angat ng Kakayahan at Kaalaman Tungo sa Maunlad at Makabagong Pilipinas."
The presentation of candidates for graduation was led by the respective college and campus deans. Representing the College of Science, Dr. Thelma Pagtalunan presented 49 candidates, followed by Dr. Crizelda Salita for the 18 candidates from San Rafael Campus and Dr. Maria Cecilia De Luna for the 57 candidates from Hagonoy Campus. Dr. Lois Ruth Villavicencio presented the lone candidate from the College of Arts and Letters, while Prof. Christian Anthony Castillo presented 42 candidates from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Dr. Jofrey Campos presented 17 candidates from Sarmiento Campus. Following the presentation, University President Dr. Teody C. San Andres conferred the degrees upon the graduates, formally recognizing their academic accomplishments and the culmination of their respective academic journeys.
A distinguished highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the degree Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration, Honoris Causa, upon guest of honor Raul C. Pagdanganan, CPA, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Santos Medical Center. In his address, Dr. Pagdanganan challenged the graduates to preserve their idealism, stand firm in their convictions, and embrace the responsibility of contributing to a better society. Drawing on his own professional journey from finance to healthcare leadership, he encouraged the graduates to remain open to unexpected opportunities, learn from failures, and let their values guide their decisions. “Maraming dapat baguhin sa ating lipunan. Subalit kung hindi kayo kikibo, sino ang kikibo? Kung hindi kayo kikilos, sino ang kikilos? Kung hindi ngayon, kailan pa?” Dr. Pagdanganan challenged, emphasizing that professional success must extend beyond personal achievement to meaningful service and nation-building. He further reminded the graduates that, regardless of where their careers may take them, they remain capable of contributing to the country through their knowledge, expertise, integrity, and continued engagement with their communities.
During the Hamon ng Pangulo ng Pamantasan, University President Dr. Teody C. San Andres congratulated the graduates and emphasized that education finds its highest purpose when knowledge is translated into meaningful improvements in the lives of others. He reminded the graduates that the professional world will require them not only to apply what they have learned but also to continue learning, adapt to changing circumstances, and make decisions guided by moral responsibility. As they enter their respective fields, he underscored the importance of pairing academic excellence with sound values, accountability, and a genuine concern for others.
The collective gratitude of the graduating class was expressed through the Tugon ng Pasasalamat delivered by Sheena Andrea Sto. Domingo, Magna Cum Laude from San Rafael Campus and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Reflecting on the theme TAYOG, she likened the graduates to trees whose growth depends on the roots, nourishment, and communities that sustain them. Her heartfelt message recognized the sacrifices of their beloved parents and guardians, the university's support, and the perseverance of students who faced challenges throughout their academic journeys. She also acknowledged that the milestone carried both joy and reflection, reminding her fellow graduates to remain grounded in the values and communities that helped them reach their dreams. “Keep your roots grounded, allow your branches to reach the farthest, and let your fruits be of service to others,” Sto. Domingo concluded, encapsulating the responsibility that accompanies achievement and the importance of using one's education to uplift others. The ceremony continued with the Pledge of Loyalty to the Alma Mater, led by Stephen Rosh Marcelino, Magna Cum Laude from the College of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology graduate. This was followed by the Pledge of Loyalty to the Alumni Association, led by Alumni Regent Dr. Rolando Gaspar, and the singing of the BulSU March, reaffirming the graduates' enduring pledge to the Alma Mater.
