The LLILAS Indigenous Languages Initiatives is excited to announce that our First-Year K'iche' course will now be available via University Extension (UEX) in fall 2026. Taught by native speaker Manuela Tahay, the course is open to UT and non-UT students alike. It meets four times a week and can be attended remotely.

¡Qué gusto encontrar a la Dra. Sara Ladrón de Guevara, ex-rectora de la Universidad Veracruzana, en LASA Paris! En el año 2008, la Universidad Veracruzana regaló una copia exacta de la Cabeza Colosal Número 1, "El Rey", al Instituto de Estudios Latinoamericanos Teresa Lozano Long (LLILAS) de la Universidad de Texas. La Dra. Ladrón de Guevara tuvo un papel en ese gran evento. Aquí se ve "El Rey" — de origen olmeca, originaria de San Lorenzo, Veracruz — en la portada de un nuevo reportaje sobre el LLILAS Mexico Center.
