A recent news article by KXAN highlighted Keri K. Stephens' "Flood Communication in Texas" presentation from May 2026. The Moody College professor in Communication Studies emphasized the importance of safety and staying off the roads during flash floods.

Flooding on roadways, especially during times of low visibility, can be extremely dangerous for both first responders and drivers, often hiding debris and drop-offs beneath the rushing water.

Kate Dawson, professor of practice in Moody College's School of Journalism and Media, alongside forensic investigator Paul Holes, signed a deal with Netflix to feature episodes of their historical true crime podcast, "Buried Bones" on the popular streaming platform.

In addition to the podcast, Dawson teaches a true crime podcasting class to explore the nuances of creating entertainment around such difficult topics.

“I think people are listening to our podcast and wanting to contribute to forensic science in some way,” Dawson says. “It’s all about how you choose to present it and do it in a responsible way.”
