Up next we have Melody Hake! Melody is graduating with her BM in Music and Worship with an emphasis in Composition and Songwriting! When asked, Melody's favorite memories at APU were:

"The shared trauma of PM finals, late nights in the midi lab, and my weekly Chick-fil-a meal with my music girls marked my time at APU with sweet friendships and growth as a musician. However, my favorite moment at APU was when my senior recital finished, and I looked behind me at all my colleagues and friends on the stage who were clapping and supporting me with their presence and musicianship. That moment was so full-circle and made all the hard days of being a music major worth it. I am so very thankful for the love and support from my friends, family and professors like J. Mike, Jonte, Mary Durst and Burdett, who each, at different moments, gave me specific encouragement as a musician and as a Christian that I will carry for the rest of my life."

Day 3 of highlighting our graduating seniors! Up next we have Nagisa Kuwabara! Nagi is getting her Masters in Trombone Performance, and she just had her senior recital! Spectacular job! Her favorite APU memories are:

"My favorite APU memory is when we won the California Jazz Championship in Folsom, CA. That was the last performance that I played in Mr. Beatty’s jazz band. I got to hang out with my friends who are still very close to me. They wrote my recital pieces, and I’m so so so lucky that I have friends like them.

I also got close with the current jazz band members in my last year of school. All of my friends left the band last year so I didn’t expect to have any friends left but I became especially close with MY TROMBONE SECTION!!! I’m so glad that I’ve made many friends who are talented and supportive.

My favorite faculty member is obviously my trombone teacher Mr. David Beatty!!!! But that might be too obvious, so I would also like to pick the amazing conductor professor Christopher Russell. He hasn’t come to Japan to conduct yet, but I’m hoping for that to happen soon :) "

"My favorite APU memory is having "pm" parties in the lobby of Engstrom Hall during my freshman year. My favorite faculty member is Dr. Burdett, for his dedication, kindness, and willingness to drive the CASMEC van. "

It's time to highlight some of our graduating seniors! Up first we have Lauren Biggs! Lauren is graduating with a BM in Composition. Some final words from Lauren:

"Hi, my name is Lauren Biggs! My favorite memory at APU is attending NCCO in Atlanta with Chamber Singers. It was my first choir tour and although we were all jet-lagged and getting sick, our performance went really well. I remember all of us, after exiting the stage, entering our holding room and smiling and laughing and jumping because of how well we did. It was really fun.

My favorite faculty member is ALL OF THEM! Every faculty member really cares about your development as a musician and person, and I've felt supported by all of them since I came here as a freshman. Special shoutout to Michael Lee and Michele Patzakis for encouraging me in applied lessons. I will miss you!"

The APU Gospel choir will be one of the featured gospel choirs at Disney’s Celebrate Gospel this month! The only university gospel choir invited to the event, they will be joining headliners and gospel music greats, Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Yolanda Adams.
