RIZZO Career Center at Loyola University Maryland http://www.loyola.edu/thecareercenter This is an on-going, lifetime activity.

The RIZZO Career Center at Loyola University Maryland helps students and alumni discover their career passion by integrating the Jesuit core values and introducing a process of personal discovery and discernment. This process assists students with discovering their unique talents and gifts and their life’s direction in relationship to their individual needs and their connections with others in a community. The RIZZO Career Center offers many services to assist in this process, and continuously strives to educate, develop community, and promote partnerships with students, alumni/ae, faculty, employers and members of the college community. Career Advisors are available year-round to discuss anything career-related, such as choosing or changing a major, clarifying interests, obtaining part-time and summer job and/or internship experiences, planning and conducting a professional job search, obtaining full-time employment, changing careers and selecting and being admitted to graduate school.

Meet Lexi Frenda!

Lexi is a senior Forensic Science major with a minor in Biology. On campus, Lexi is involved in the Evergreen Players and is the student director for the Spotlight Players this year. She's also the president of the Jewish Student Association, a member of the Honors Program, and a member of the Tri Beta and Delta Delta Epsilon honors societies.

This summer, Lexi interned at the Essex County Prosecutor's Office as a Crime Scene Unit Intern. She learned about this position through a family-friend. Her role was to shadow and assist detectives in their office operations, which included vehicle searches, evidence processing/packaging (fingerprinting and swabbing), and preparing 3D Leica scans for court. She also got to tour Newark Ballistics Laboratory, Union County Prosecutor's Office Forensic Laboratory, and NJ State Police Laboratory as part of her internship.

One piece of advice Lexi has for students searching for internships is: "Pull on connections!"

We are so proud of Lexi! If you are considering applying for internships in the coming semesters, make sure to stop by the Rizzo Career Center to learn more about the application process. Until next week, Happy Spotlight Sunday!

Meet Thomas Carroll!

Thomas is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. On campus, Thomas is the president of Loyola's chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a member of the National Leadership Honor Society (ODK), a Leadership Mentor for Loyola's Student Leadership Corps (SLC), and a peer tutor at the Study.

This summer, Thomas interned with the consulting firm Re*****on and Vernick Engineers as a Technical Aide Intern in the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineering (M.E.P.) department. He found this role through Loyola alumni tabling at the STEM Career Fair. In this role, Thomas utilized AutoCAD and Revit to design mechanical systems for the interiors of commercial and government buildings in New Jersey.

One piece of advice Thomas has for students searching for internships is: "Strong communication and interpersonal skills, I believe, are vital to standing out and networking in an engineering environment."

We are so proud of Thomas! If you are considering applying for internships in the coming semesters, make sure to stop by the Rizzo Career Center to learn more about the application process. Until next week, Happy Spotlight Sunday!

Meet Camille Weber!

Nina is a senior majoring in Sustainability Management. On campus, Camille is the President of Sustainable Business Club, a Senior Director of Marketing for Greyhound Ambassadors, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, and an Advanced Preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).

This summer, Camille interned with Boeing as a Sustainability Analyst Intern. She found this role through a LinkedIn job search, and tailored her resume to fit Boeing's needs. She was selected out of over 1300 applicants for this role. As a Sustainability Analyst Intern, Camille supported the data validation process for Boeing’s 2026 Global Sustainability Report, created a resource hub for environmental conservation materials, conducted research on policy-driven sourcing restrictions in defense supply chains, and developed a suite of team-specific AI prompts to enhance operational efficiency and cross-functional knowledge sharing.

One piece of advice Camille has for students searching for internships is: "Start early and take care with your applications, especially the little details (punctuation, grammar, spelling, even spacing on your resume—these things do make a difference, especially if you’re lucky enough to have your resume make it in front of a human). In terms of interviews, yes, it’s important to have some relevant education and work history, but in my experience, enthusiasm for the role/scope of work and knowledge of the company beyond just a quick Google search will make you stand out. If you can speak the language of the company in an interview before you’re even hired, that will make you 100x more memorable when they’re making hiring decisions."

We are so proud of Camille! If you are considering applying for internships in the coming semesters, make sure to stop by the Rizzo Career Center to learn more about the application process. Until next week, Happy Spotlight Sunday!
