UMSOD Dean Mark A. Reynolds, DDS, PhD, MA, has been named interim provost and executive vice president at the University of Maryland Baltimore, effective Aug. 1, 2026. A proud UMB graduate and longtime leader, Dr. Reynolds is widely respected for his collaborative approach and commitment to advancing research, education, and patient care.

Last week, we celebrated the UMSOD Class of 2026 as they crossed the stage and officially began the next chapter of their journeys. While we are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished, it is hard to imagine our hallways without them.

Over the past several years, these students dedicated thousands of hours to serving patients and communities while building lifelong friendships, mentorships, and memories along the way. We know they will go on to do incredible things for the future of oral healthcare, and we can't wait to see the impact they make.

More than 150 graduates received Doctor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degrees at at the May 15 convocation ceremony at the Hippodrome.

After 21 years of dedicated leadership, we thank Dr. Monica Schneider for her incredible impact on UMSOD as she begins a new chapter at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Her commitment to our students, patients, and admissions excellence has shaped our school in lasting ways.

We’re grateful for all she’s done and welcome Dr. Andrea Morgan as Interim Assistant Dean during this transition.
