CCBC pools are open and free to the community this summer during designated swim hours from Jun. 22 - Aug. 20!

Pool hours:
• CCBC Catonsville: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
• CCBC Dundalk: Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. and 4 – 6 p.m.
• CCBC Essex: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3 – 5 p.m.

*Please note: Swimmers need to complete an online waiver and get a CCBC OneCard before using the pool.

Juneteenth, which we celebrate this year on Friday, June 19, "calls us to honor the sufferings of the past while renewing our responsibility to shape a more just future," writes CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis in her latest blog post. "It reminds us that progress is not inevitable, and that the work of advancing freedom for all people continues. As Coretta Scott King said, 'Struggle is a never-ending process. Today, CCBC had the privilege of dedicating The Dr. Gary E. Kaiser Microbiology Lab in the Mathematics and Science Hall on the college’s Catonsville campus. The lab honors Dr. Gary E. Kaiser, Emeritus, who served on the college’s biology faculty for 54 years until his retirement in 2024. Dr. Kaiser was a pioneer in accessibility, creating free lecture materials for students in 1973, long before the idea caught on in higher ed. He created digital course materials and nearly 40 instructional YouTube videos that earned thousands of views, beginning years before such teaching tactics became standard. CCBC treasures his legacy. Generations of future microbiology students will know his name as they walk through the doors of the lab named in his honor.

After more than two decades of leadership, CCBC President Sandra L. Kurtinitis has announced she will step down as president effective July 31, 2027.

Since 2005, Dr. Kurtinitis has helped shape CCBC into a strong, student-centered institution expanding opportunity, strengthening workforce pathways and advancing student success across our region.

She will remain fully engaged in her role over the coming year as the college prepares for its next chapter.

"Last week, nearly 5,000 graduates, guests, faculty, staff, administrators, trustees, and elected officials gathered on the CCBC Essex campus to celebrate a tradition of 69 years: the Commencement ceremony," writes CCBC President Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis in her latest blog post.
