CCBC is proud to announce Sanjana Gaddam as the 2026 President's Distinguished Graduate!

Sanjana has excelled as a scholar, leader, and advocate at CCBC, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and actively participating in leadership roles, including the Catonsville Student Honors Council. Recently, she was honored as a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar and received the Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship, which will cover expenses as she travels abroad to Northern Ireland this summer.

Despite facing mental health challenges, Sanjana has shown remarkable perseverance. Now, she hopes to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by sharing her experiences and inspiring others to overcome adversity.

As the President's Distinguished Graduate, Sanjana will serve as the commencement speaker for the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony tomorrow at CCBC Essex. Congratulations Sanjana!

May's "Wow!" factor is all about Teachers Education. From former federal employees in search of renewed purpose to parents seeking career changes, CCBC is creating a fast-track pathway for aspiring educators to gain full licensure.

Learn how CCBC is using funding from Maryland Higher Education Commission - MHEC's Expanding Teacher Quality and Diversity initiative to provide educators with training, mentorship, classroom supplies, and opportunities to network at conferences: https://ccbcmarcom.exposure.co/fast-track-teaching

Initiative helps conditionally certified teachers fast-track their path to the classroom.

Each year, CCBC employees come together to support students through our Employee Giving Campaign. This year, faculty and staff raised over $187,000 to fund scholarship opportunities, stock the student food pantry, and help students dealing with unexpected emergencies.

Thank you to all of the incredible employees who contributed. Your generosity supports students like Bethel, who is graduating this spring and beginning her nursing career in pediatric emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins.

Congratulations to CCBC's 2026 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, Dr. Nicole Beeson!

Dr. Beeson began her path in health care at CCBC in the Weekend Nursing program. There, she found a supportive community of like-minded students balancing studies, family, and work commitments.

Years later, she played a key role in establishing a partnership with the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, CCBC, and Baltimore County Government. Through the partnership, students can earn their CNA at CCBC at no cost, with a guaranteed position at SJMS.

“Our hope is to create a sense of community around this group of students and watch them rise together… That’s what happened to me at CCBC.”

Dr. Beeson is now the vice president of Nursing Operations and Care Delivery Innovation at the University of Maryland Medical System and continues to serve through mentorship, partnership, and service.
