Today our Delta College faculty, staff, and students participated in 'Pink Out Day' in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

The students were especially excited to participate, and it was great to see everyone come together to support such an important cause.

“Selfie with the Pres” The benefits of working late include an opportunity to visit with these fine young ladies (at my age, everyone is young) working to become LPN’s. Ladies, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting each of you, but I didn’t get any of your names. Please tag yourself so I can remember.

These women work during the day and night class gives then the opportunity to pursue a nursing career. I am always in awe of night students, working during the day, attending 16 hours of class each week and studying 5 to 12 hours per week is impressive – and it will pay off in the long run. I am very proud of not only these six, but all 50+ of our night PN students. May the Lord bless each and every one of you with success!

This month, we’re excited to recognize Mia as our Employee Spotlight!

Mia’s journey with our community has truly come full circle. After spending two years as a Personal Assistant in our Reunion Neighborhood, she left to pursue her dream of completing nursing school. We were thrilled to welcome her back as one of our newest nurses!

Mia’s bright smile, compassionate heart, and positive attitude make a wonderful impact on both residents and team members. She is always willing to jump in and help, and she even brings plenty of joy to the community with her love of karaoke!

Mia’s dedication, kindness, and caring spirit make her a well-deserved recipient of this recognition. Congratulations, Mia, and thank you for all that you do!

The Nightingale Award, given to Latanga Irvin, recognizes and applauds a graduate who has exhibited the characteristics of nursing as established by our pioneer of nursing, Florence Nightingale. This graduate has continually exhibited the following qualities:
• Demonstrates compassion to their patients
• Displays loyalty to their instructors and classmates
• Shows Consistent dedication and diligence in their studies.
While all our graduates have demonstrated the core values of nursing, only one graduate is chosen.

Our Nursing Class of 2026 Salutatorian is Ariel Johnson, pictured with Valerie Noflin. Ariel earned this award by holding the second-highest cumulative grade point average, right behind the valedictorian. An extraordinary achievement for which we congratulate her. Well done!

Delta College North partnered with the LSU AG center to bring attention to a program they are trying to get into the community for our students. Extra Credit was given for their nutrition class by attending and we had a great showing on our first session!
