Having shared values is a core component of a team being able to agree and come together toward one goal. That being said, we know it can be challenging as each member of a team can have their own individual values that may come in conflict with the rest of the team.

This is a topic we discussed recently with Beaux Jones, President & CEO of The Water Institute, on Episode 7 of Teams That Win. He describes core values as a shared agreement, and he names the behavior that goes with each value so a team knows what it looks like on both sides.

That's Lacy Dicharry, our Senior Director, on this week's episode of Teams That Win.

Beaux Jones went from environmental lawyer to general counsel to chief of staff at The Water Institute, and now serves as its President & CEO. Each of those roles rewarded a different skill, and the challenges he encountered along with the lessons he learned are things we can all apply to keep building our teams.

He leads geoscientists, biologists, ecologists, data engineers, social scientists, archaeologists and lawyers, working across several states. Each discipline arrives with its own training, its own vocabulary and its own norms for how people talk to each other.

Lacy talks with him about what changes when your job stops being the work and becomes the people doing it, and about what it means to be vulnerable with a team that large.

The first cohort of the Women's Leadership Academy launched this past Friday. It is a six-month academy built together by the Junior League of Baton Rouge and the LSU Leadership Development Institute (LDI) for executive and advanced women leaders.

We are excited to share the beginning of the Women’s Leadership Academy 2026-2027 cohort!

It is a program from the Junior League of Baton Rouge and LDI at LSU, built for women leading organizations across Louisiana. Today was the first session, featuring women leading in healthcare, government, nonprofits, corporate, education, and faith-based organizations.

It has been weeks of preparation, and we are excited to connect and build this together. Grateful for our collaboration with Junior League of Baton Rouge.
