For Liz Gaffney-Cappello '21, Boise State was a place of growth, challenge, and community.

As a mechanical engineering student and student-athlete, Liz built lasting friendships and developed the critical thinking and planning skills that continue to guide her career today. From competing with the track team to balancing the demands of engineering, her time at Boise State helped shape both her personal and professional journey.

Today, Liz serves as an Application Engineering Manager for North America, where she works with global teams to launch custom temperature sensing products and enjoys the opportunity to travel, collaborate, and keep learning.

Now, as a member of the BOLD Committee, Liz is excited to help recent graduates build connections, grow in their careers, and stay connected to the Bronco community.

“Boise State gave me some of the best memories in a time I was learning to be independent. It still has many stories to be told in the future and it can’t be done without people who loved their experience.”

The Broncos are back on “The Blue” for the first time since early October as they host Texas State on Halloween night. Costumes are encouraged. No masks can be worn until inside the stadium.

This fall, Boise State and the Blue Thunder Marching Band entered an exciting new era as the Broncos joined the Pac-12 Conference.

For our student musicians, that means new stages, new opportunities and an even bigger platform to represent Boise State. From the roar of The Blue to stadiums across the country, Blue Thunder brings the heartbeat of Bronco Nation to every game.

Alumni Spotlight: Riley Dieffenbach ‘24 ✨

During her time at Boise State, Riley Dieffenbach ‘24 found more than a degree. She found community, connection, and a deeper sense of purpose.

As a Social Sciences major with minors in Political Communication and Critical Theory, Riley built strong relationships, developed her critical thinking skills, and discovered a passion for mission-driven work, advocacy, and relationship-building. Her leadership experience as VP of New Member Experience in Alpha Gamma Delta also helped strengthen her commitment to creating spaces where people feel welcomed and supported.

Today, Riley serves as a Program Manager at the Downtown Boise Association, where she helps support the downtown business community and contributes to keeping Boise a vibrant place to live, visit, and connect.

Now, as a member of the BOLD Committee, Riley is excited to help students and alumni stay connected to Boise State and continue building community beyond graduation.

“It’s important for me to give back and stay connected to Boise State because the four years I spent at Boise State were some of the best years of my life, and I have so much gratitude for the University itself and the people apart of the community who keep campus running smoothly, both internally and externally.”

Tapped Minds November is inbound!

This month’s topic: Built for the Moon: Inside Boise State's Student-Led Lunar Robotics

What does it take to build a robot designed to explore the lunar surface? Join Oliver MacDonald, a Boise State graduate student in the College of Engineering, and instructor of the Bender Autonomous Robotics Systems (Bender ARS) team, for a behind-the-scenes look at the engineering, creativity and collaboration behind student-led lunar robotics.

Oliver will introduce the NASA Lunabotics Challenge and explore what goes into a season of building, testing and problem-solving. From navigation and chassis to drivetrain and regolith, discover how students across engineering subteams work together to design an autonomous robot and tackle the challenges of lunar exploration.

Headed to the game? Our alumni team will be on site for our Bronco Bash Tailgate.

Here's what you need to know:
• Saturday, October 24
• Rogers Field, Pullman, WA (Right next to Martin Stadium)
• 1:00 p.m - 2:30 p.m PST (Kickoff is 3:00 p.m PST)

Rogers Field is in Cougville, so make sure to wear all the Blue and Orange you can! Important note: Once you enter Rogers Field, you cannot exit. You will scan your football ticket to enter the field and there is no re-entry. You will enter Martin Stadium from Rogers Field.
