How do you turn an idea into a racecar? 🏎️

Meet Terrier Motorsport, BU’s student-run club building a full-size, all-electric racecar from the ground up. After qualifying for its first-ever Formula Hybrid competition last spring, the team is back this year with plans for a smaller, faster, and more reliable car, and they’re looking for students across disciplines to join them.

Student representatives from Terrier Motorsport will be on Nickerson Field during Splash on Saturday, September 5, from noon to 2:30 pm.

This summer, 10 Boston-area STEM teachers traded the classroom for the research lab, spending six weeks at Boston University gaining hands-on experience alongside BU faculty and graduate students. Through the Photonics Center’s Research Experiences for Teachers program, they explored new research and brought fresh ideas back to their classrooms and the students they inspire.

For many doctors and researchers, writing can take a back seat to the demands of medicine and academia. At Boston University, the Medical Campus’s Narrative Writing Program is giving faculty a chance to rediscover that part of themselves, while finding new ways to make sense of their experiences, connect with others, and share their work beyond the medical world. More than 100 faculty members have participated since the program launched in 2018, with dozens going on to publish essays, poems, and books.

On Wednesday, social media giant Meta agreed to a landmark settlement that will see the company pay up to $17.1 billion and make potentially dramatic changes to Facebook and Instagram over claims that the company knowingly designed its platforms to addict and harm young users.

BU communication law scholar Morgan Weiland spoke with BU Today about Meta’s decision to settle, how effective the company’s changes to Instagram and Facebook could be for young users, and what the settlement could mean for regulating Big Tech.
