What do you get when you combine classmates, mentors, and puppets in one film? An alumni success story! The creative partnership between Aidan Leary ’22 and CR Thompson ’22 for their feature perfectly captures what it means to be "Emerson Made."

This film was a total Emerson collaboration: Associate Producer Kendall Deutsch ’22 championed the script, while Aidan tapped his mentor Tony Yacenda ’10 for legal guidance, and CR utilized puppetry skills first honed at Emerson Independent Video (EIV). To nail the kids’ show nostalgia, they consulted Sesame Street veteran and Emerson senior distinguished director in residence Regge Life, later refining the cut with feedback from assistant professor Joe Maggio and fellow alumni.

It’s proof that your Emerson connections are the ultimate launchpad!

Emerson College has been named by Variety as an honoree in its 2026 Top Film Schools list 🏆

Variety editors reviewed top entertainment education schools for this year’s list, evaluating each program’s current offerings, including courses, instructors, and entertainment-focused training across film, music, TV, and related fields. Emerson College was singled out for its strong bicoastal approach that provides students with access to industry-standard soundstages, labs and production suites, while addressing new AI technology.

Meet Cristina da Luz ’24, writer, producer, and founder of 32mm Studios, bringing her debut short film to life. Shot in Cape Verde with a team of fellow Emerson alumni and local talent, Maresia is a haunting story of survival, memory, and the supernatural.�

This project came together alongside collaborators Aidan Douglas ’25, Worlanyo Mensah ’23, Natalie Amateau ’23, Zamzam Elmoge ’25, and Delany Davis ’24, showcasing the power of the Emerson network on a global stage.
