IT’S TIME TO AUDITION FOR PIPPIN!

Grossmont College Theatre Arts is looking for performers to join our production of PIPPIN, the beloved musical filled with unforgettable songs, bold storytelling, and spectacular choreography!

As told by a traveling troupe of actors led by the cunning and charming Leading Player, Pippin is the story of a young prince, heir to the throne, who is searching for his own “corner of the sky.” Encouraged by the Leading Player, Pippin dabbles in bloody battle, licentious entanglements, and savvy political maneuvers, only to discover that true happiness is more complicated than he thought. With infectious tunes by Stephen Schwartz and an original book and choreography by Bob Fosse, Pippin is both a witty exploration of growing up and a dark tale of false appearances and empty promises.

All aboard the Mayhem on the Oreo Express!

We had a wonderful time welcoming children from the Grossmont College Children’s Development Center to a special performance of our pastry-packed mystery!

A huge thank-you to the Rice Family Foundation for sponsoring Mayhem on the Oreo Express! Their generous support makes it possible to bring this fun, family-friendly adventure to audiences both in the Stagehouse Theatre and at local elementary schools through our Elementary School Tour.

You can still catch the mystery at the Stagehouse Theatre for THREE public performances!

Next Tuesday, our cast and crew hit the road to kick off our Elementary School Tour, bringing the laughs, surprises, and mystery to students throughout our local community!

Learning Behind the Scenes!

Our Theatre Arts Practicum students had a great opportunity to watch a vacuum forming machine demonstration! This amazing tool uses heat and suction to shape softened plastic over a mold, creating custom pieces for props, costumes, and scenic elements.

Hands-on experiences like this give our students a chance to explore new tools, learn techniques used in technical theatre, and discover creative ways to bring their ideas to life on stage.

It was exciting to see the machine in action and explore one more of the many tools used to bring theatre productions to life! A big thank-you to everyone who made this demonstration possible!

ABOUT THE SHOW
Struggling artist Payne Showers finally gets his big break—but not quite in the way he imagined. After his unexpected death sends the value of his artwork skyrocketing, his estranged wife, Maggie, prepares for a high-stakes auction that could save her gallery from bankruptcy.

With an eccentric group of guests, big personalities, and plenty of secrets in the room, everything seems to be going according to plan… until something—or someone—unexpectedly walks through the door.

Artifice is a farce about celebrity, success, loyalty, and love—with plenty of surprises along the way.

Meet Tracy Armagost, Production and Recruiting Coordinator, and learn about the Opera’s entry- to intermediate-level apprenticeship program, which combines instruction with practical experience in a variety of technical theatre fields, including:

Artifice is a fast-paced, witty farce where art, ambition, money, and deception collide. As carefully laid plans begin to unravel, everyone has something to gain—and something to hide.

Get ready for clever twists, unexpected returns, and plenty of laughs in a comedy that proves fame can be complicated… especially when you’re supposed to be dead.

Seeking a company of actors to bring their creativity and unique talents to this collaborative process. This is a fast, fun, and funny show (similar to CLUE! or NOISES OFF) and will be a great chance to explore comedic timing and physical comedy.

Step into the charming, whimsical world of HARVEY, the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy. Meet Elwood P. Dowd, a kind-hearted gentleman whose closest companion is Harvey—a six-foot-tall, invisible rabbit. When Elwood's well-meaning sister, Veta, decides she's had enough of his unusual behavior and hopes to save the family from embarrassment, she tries to have him committed to a sanitarium, but is mistaken for the one who is unstable.

Harvey is a heartwarming comedy about kindness, acceptance, and the joy of seeing the world through a different lens.

Performances are October 10-17, 2026. Thursdays and Fridays @ 7:30pm, Saturdays @ 2pm and 7:30pm.
