Generations of Pacific University students have been inspired by Professor Emeritus Mike Steele’s influence. A member of our undergraduate faculty from 1975 to 2011 β€” not to mention a fantastic handball coach β€” we are so proud to celebrate Mike's legacy of giving students a place to call home at Pacific.

Happy National College Colors Day Boxers!

Show your college spirit today by sending us your favorite photos from a past showdown between Pacific and Willamette. We're on the search for memorable photos of our amazing communities to celebrate our first home football game against Willamette University on Saturday, September 12 β€” because at the end of the day we're still sports rivals after all! 🏈

Leave a comment with your own photos of Boxer vs. Bearcat fans from when you’ve attended a game!

Rather than taking seasonal jobs, a handful of our students took on summer undergraduate research opportunities funded by .J. Murdock Charitable Trust. Chemistry majors Cai Woolsey ’29 and Leo Bala ’27 spent their summer writing code to build computer models with professor Kevin Johnson to show how metal-organic framework materials can better capture carbon dioxide.

One floor above, biology majors Kyle Woodcock ’27 and Ramiro Perez-Guillen ’27 spent the summer peering through microscopes, examining sea anemones that they raised just down the hall with biology professor Katrina Gundlach. Click through to learn more about both groups' projects.

Pacific's Summer Undergraduate Research Program extends classroom into practical experience, providing research opportunities for students and faculty alike.

Starting in January 2027, Pacific University's Nonprofit Leadership program will offer professional stackable certificates, making advanced, professional-grade leadership skills more accessible and affordable. Pacific's Nonprofit Leadership certificates were developed specifically to meet the evolving workforce needs of the fast-growing nonprofit sector in Oregon and beyond. Students can earn just the certificates they need, or stack them together to earn a master of nonprofit leadership from Pacific.

Developed in partnership with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon β€” and featuring active nonprofit professionals as faculty members β€” Pacific’s Nonprofit Leadership program provides students with the skills they need to lead the more than 29,000 nonprofit organizations that operate in Oregon.
