The 5 questions every prospective sonography student asks before applying. Real answers, in plain English.

Q. Are you accredited? Can I sit for ARDMS boards?
A. Yes. AMSC is accredited, and graduates are eligible to sit for ARDMS board exams.

Q. Will I find a job after graduation?
A. Our career services team helps you with resume prep, workshops, and updates on which clinics are hiring. Students who pursue SPI and board exams are well-positioned to find work.

Q. Can I apply for financial aid?
A. Yes. Both our AAS and BHS programs qualify, and our financial aid department guides every eligible student through the process.

Q. What are the class hours?
A. AAS Morning: 9 AM to 1 PM. AAS Evening: 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. BHS: 9 AM to 2 PM. All Monday through Friday.

Q. What's the difference between AAS and BHS?
A. AAS is the faster route into the field. BHS adds advanced training and looks stronger for leadership roles. Both qualify you for boards.

How long does it actually take to become a sonographer?

Less time than you've been told.

At AMSC, we offer two accredited paths into one of healthcare's most stable careers:

• AAS (Associate of Applied Science) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography — 24 months, with morning OR evening sessions
• BHS (Bachelor of Health Sciences) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography — 26 months, morning sessions

Both programs include real clinical externships, prepare you to sit for your boards, and integrate echocardiography into the core curriculum (most schools charge extra for that).

Already have your AAS? Our 6-month bridge program lets you upgrade to a Bachelor's without starting over.

The 4 thoughts that talk people out of the career they actually want.

"Don't I need experience first?" No. AMSC is built for first-time students. There are no prerequisites required, and many students start right after high school graduation. Every modality, every skill, every piece of equipment is taught from the ground up.

"Can I work while studying?" Yes, many students do. Our AAS evening session runs 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM Monday through Friday, designed specifically so you can keep a daytime job while you train.

"Am I too old to start over?" Our students range from recent high school grads to career-changers in their 40s and 50s. Sonography rewards life experience: patience, communication, attention to detail, all qualities that grow stronger with age.

"I don't understand medical terms." Neither did anyone on day one. Medical terminology is built into the curriculum from week one, taught step by step in plain English, until it becomes second nature.
