Have you ever noticed the Greenville Woman's College Seal on Clark Murphy Hall?
Inscribed with the latin words "Non Sine Pulvere," translating to "not without dust," the seal was added to Clark Murphy Hall in 1961 when it was originally the women's dorm.
The motto "Non Sine Pulvere" was coined by Mary Judson, and although many interpret the expression to mean "not without struggle," some also consider the phrase as a gesture to the unseen labor of enslaved people throughout Furman's history.
