Rice Engineering Alumni (REA) is the alumni organization for the George R. Brown School of Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

The goal of REA is to serve as a catalyst for beneficial collaboration and lifelong connections between alumni and the school. REA pursues this goal by recognizing outstanding achievements, supporting students, and facilitating interactions among alumni, students, faculty and staff.

This weekend, the REA came together for our October Board meeting at the .rice to discuss updates and continue to advance our for the 2026 - 2027 academic year! 🦉💙

As part of the meeting, the Board had the opportunity to hear from Luay Nakhleh, Dean of Rice Engineering who shared his insights on AI and the transforming landscape of education, as well as Amy Dern, Director of Strategic Initiatives and International Programs at the OEDK, who gave us a closer look at the exciting work the OEDK does to support Rice engineering students!

Also a big thank you to Sebastian Sandoval (MechE & Data Science'27) and Sarah Glass (PhD Candidate in Environmental Engineering) who each presented on their REA Student Project & Travel Grant experiences.

We're excited to continue building connections between Rice engineering , , and the broader Rice community through our events (5+ so far this academic year), and look forward to sharing more of what our committees have planned for the year ahead! 🚀

** Calling Rice Engineering Alumni in Houston! ** 📣🦉 We invite you to with Rice University School of Engineering and Computing master’s students by serving as mentors for a workshop designed to help prepare students for careers in industry! 🤝

Hosted by Rice’s Engineering Communication Program, the "Elevate Your Interview Skills" workshop features small-group interview practice in a round-robin format, where guest interviewers will help master's students refine their interview skills. A catered dinner will be provided.

Rice Engineering Alumni is ringing in the new year!! 🦉🎉 This weekend, the REA came together for our first meeting of the 2026-2027 school year -- bringing both and together to set priorities, share ideas, and get to work on our for the year ahead.

As part of the meeting, the Board also heard from two Rice University School of Engineering and Computing students who participated in the REA's program (Paige Rennie and Tatum Thompson) who shared reflections on their summer internships, mentorship experiences, and what they gained from the program.

We’re excited about the initiatives our have planned for the year and look forward to sharing more with the community soon. There’s plenty more to come! 💙
