⭐️ Alumni Spotlight ⭐️
Please say hello to Dr. Samantha Balboa. Samantha is a soprano from Pottsville, PA. She earned a BFA in Vocal Performance from IUP, an MM in Vocal Performance from Oakland University, and a DMA in Vocal Performance from University of North Texas. She is currently an Instructor of Voice at Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. She served on the Voice Faculty at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX from 2021 to 2025. Recently, she has been announced as the 2025 first place winner of The American Prize in Stage Directing. She has also recently done a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the University of Hardin-Baylor. A recording of this production can be found on YouTube. Samantha will be presenting at two separate conferences in 2026. She will be presenting “Charles Martin Loeffler’s Unpublished Songs for Viola, Voice, and Piano: A Rediscovery” at the International Viola Conference in Paris, France in January of 2026. She will also be presenting “Revive the Routine: Creative Approaches to Practicing” at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio, TX in February of 2026. Samantha also has upcoming performances. She will be a soprano soloist in Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” with the Wichita Symphony Chorus on October 28, 2025. She will also be playing The Mother in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” with Music On Site in December of 2025. A fun fact about Samantha is that she loves to cook! She says that “[a]fter a decade of living in Texas, I can confidently say I make a mean salsa and buttery tortillas from scratch.”
