On October 15, 1949, Kings Point first met the Coast Guard Academy on the gridiron.

Since that historic day, generations of midshipmen and cadets have battled for pride, tradition, and bragging rights, building one of college football’s storied rivalries.

And now, we’re making history again.

In 2025, the Secretaries’ Cup left the academies’ campuses for the first time, taking the field at legendary Fenway Park in Boston.

In our nation’s 250th year, the rivalry enters another historic chapter as the Secretaries’ Cup heads to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and Audi Field.

Two academies. One legendary rivalry. A new chapter in history.

November 14, 2026. Be part of history.

In case you missed it…
Senator. Astronaut. Kings Pointer.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy welcomed alumnus Senator Mark Kelly ’86 and his wife, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, to Kings Point on September 25 during Homecoming Weekend.

Returning to his alma mater, Kelly spent time with midshipmen and reconnected with classmates as the Class of 1986 celebrated its 40th reunion.

From Kings Point to the Navy, NASA, and the U.S. Senate, his path reflects the many ways Academy graduates serve our nation.

It was a pleasure to welcome them to campus and celebrate the connections that bring generations of Kings Pointers together.

Thank you to the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation for a memorable Homecoming Weekend filled with events, a fantastic finish to September!
