Nursing school and other health care fields may demand tiring, unpaid 12-hour clinical shifts, leaving students torn between patient care and earning enough just to get by. Dr. Beth Manke and her siblings are bridging this gap and easing financial strain for CSULB student nurses by providing stipends through a personal gift honoring their late mother’s legacy of “leading with empathy.” This support for LBCIP Interns allows students like Jennifer Fong to continue to work at hospitals like Long Beach Memorial and nursing students Jun Melchior and Cobi Nguyen. The Manke Family hopes to continue to support students, serve the community and make opportunities more equitable. To read the whole article, click the link in our bio! 👏
